Sustainable Development Goals in a national context

MAKING GLOBAL GOALS LOCAL BUSINESS are local events, organized jointly by the UNGC headquarter and local networks.

The aim is to bring together business leaders, sustainability professionals, officials, impact-driven entrepreneurs, NGO leaders, and the United Nations to catalyze collective action and accelerate progress built on the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this two-day conference we will present the human dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals and the role of business as an engine for their achievement. Permanent leadership is impactful and business is the force for good.

MAKING GLOBAL GOALS LOCAL BUSINESS BULGARIA

During the first day of the conference, we will look for answers:

  • Why it is important to talk about the Sustainable Development Goals? Is this conversation happening?

  • What is the role of business and the media in its implementation?

  • Do the Sustainable Development Goals have a human dimension?

The second day of the conference is dedicated to uniting business for a Better Bulgaria:

  • What are the new challenges for business?

  • How does the pandemic make the question of innovations even more relevant?

  • How to have a good economy without robbing the wealth of the Earth?

  • Is a balance between the image of an investment hospitable country and green and climate policies possible?

Global Compact Network Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact, which operates as part of the global network and was officially launched on May 6, 2011 by H.E. Ban Ki-moon – Secretary General of the UN, is an association of companies and NGOs in which we all believe that:

  • man’s mission is to be useful;

  • free labor is creativity;

  • only creating for others, you can create yourself, and

  • this is the way you can be a role model to your children.

The Network in Bulgaria is a platform for the responsible business in Bulgaria and for the short time of its existence – we’re celebrating our 10th anniversary – it has built itself a recognizable image and developed collective projects with public importance, which have a positive impact on the sustainability of business and society. We have created a unique work approach and a tradition on uniting capacity in order to achieve a new level of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Network does not simply promote adherence to the values of the Global Compact but rather uses its Ten Principles as a tool which can creatively address the needs of the society and stir a change in the citizens’ culture. We believe that responsible business is the main driving force for the development of the society.
